ALBUM REVIEW: Conner Youngblood Paint Landscape Masterpiece on ‘Cheyenne’

Everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

I’ve watched the sun rise as I paddled towards the horizon. I’ve seen it set from atop mountains. Being in wild places, surrounded by stark beauty and stillness without modern distractions, allows you to hear your soul sing. Conner Youngblood achieves the same stark beauty and depth, without excess or diversion, on his first full-length album Cheyenne.

Still waters run deep, just like this album. It’s composed so beautifully still that you might mistake it for unimaginative or lacking. Don’t be fooled. It takes you out of the mundane places of the everyday and deep off the map. That’s why we seek wild places, to find and learn something within. Everything you need, and nothing you don’t.
