ALBUM REVIEW: High on Fire Finds Their Inner Kilmister on ‘Electric Messiah’

Overall a great album from the gang.

It’s near impossible to listen to Sleep or High on Fire and not compare the two metal heroes. That being said, Matt Pike (guitarist of the former and frontman of the latter) has blessed 2018 with a great project from both groups. Pike, Des Kenzel and Jeff Matz are firing on all cylinders with High on Fire’s eighth and newest album, Electric Messiah.

The title track serves as a great tribute to Lemmy Kilmister, but Pike is channeling his inner Lemmy across the entire album. Don’t expect a whole lot of change, just lots and lots of double bass. Standout cuts include “Electric Messiah,” “Sanctioned Annihilation” and “Steps of the Ziggurat/House of Enlil.”

Overall a great album from the gang.
